Maharshi biography
That night of the streets, the sounds of the chants of devotees, bells and drums filled the streets - a special festival dedicated to the Lord Shiva was held here. Immediately after midnight, during this favorable celebration on December 30, Bhagavan Sri Raman, the second son of Sundaram Ier and Azhammala, was born.
Parents gave him the name Venkataraman. His older brother was Nagasvs, the younger - Nagasunders, and Alarmelu sister. He grew happily with his three brothers and sisters. Wenkataraman received primary education in his hometown Tiruchuzhi and Dintsukkale. When he was twelve years old, his father died. Since his mother could not take care of all her children, Venkataraman and his eldest brother were offered to live in his paternal’s uncle’s house in order to continue higher education in secondary school with an American mission in Madura, known for his temple of Minakshi.
Although he had a clear and sharp mind and good memory, he was little interested in the school and almost did not make efforts. However, thanks to his ability, it is easy to memorize the information by simply reading it once, he achieved medium results. He possessed a healthy body, loved to play the ball, fight classmates and was an excellent swimmer, winning all the swims in the Vaigai River.
He was good in all sports, and no one dared to challenge him. Sometimes friends played him when he slept. They took him out of the bed to the street, made loud sounds, but they could not wake up with any efforts. The next day, he did not even remember what happened to his body. He was deeply touched by the saints who lived their lives in joyful devotion to God, serving and chanting Him.
When an elderly relative told about the Holy Mountain, the heart of Venkataraman was filled with joy and surprise. This name caused a deep response inside, associated with the sensation of the house, and the boy was shocked by the fact that this feeling, this name exists as a real place on this earth. Both of these events, perhaps, aroused something in Venkataraman, activated the seed, which blossomed later during the year.
Mount Arunal, Tiruvannamalai Great Divine Change, this was one of the days of the middle of July. Venkataraman sat alone in a small room upstairs. Although he was not physically ill, a strong fear arose in him that he would die. It was not just an imaginary or superficial fear, but a real experience of death. He did not allow this to worry. He did not even inform anyone about it. He boldly greeted the impending death and dared to explore it and find the result of this study for himself.
What is death? Who does he come to? To me. Who am I? What is dying? He tightly closed his lips and remained silent and lifeless, completely focusing on himself. He survived death! What did he realize at this moment? Now it will be attributed to the site for cremation and burned. It will be turned into ashes. But with the destruction of this body, am I destroyed? Are I really this body?
Everged by this death, which turned the body into a corpse, I still exist and shine here and now! So, I am not this brave body. I and it are different. Of all the things, only I, not connected by the body, is real. The body and the world are intended only for destruction, but I, transcending the body, are an eternal higher thing! From that moment, this state of self -awareness was constantly shining in it as its natural state, not connected by time and space, not increasing and not decreasing.
Sri Raman Maharshi Transformation after awakening the desire to play, which once attracted him, also completely disappeared from his consciousness. Love and affection for friends and relatives also faded away, as well as interest in food and worldly classes. He, who in the past always fought for the case, has now become indifferent and no longer reacted to any wrong or case.
His previous manner reacted with sharp blows, when someone scolded him, changed, and now a sweet smile of forgiveness and indifference appeared on his face in response! What a wonderful change! Self -awareness transformed him into a perfect sadhu. Love, non -power, patience, compassion, forgiveness, control of feelings, humility, fearlessness - all these divine qualities settled in it naturally and completely, not as a result of practice, but as a result of self -awareness.
For him, life, consisting of worldly activity, was now meaningless, dry and unreal, just as the dream is useless, empty and unrealistic for the one who has awakened him. He Was Offen Seen Sitting in Solitude, Absorbed and Wallowing in Himself. In Truth, The Former Venkataraman Was No More, and Bhagavan Ramana Alone Shone! An Incident That Gave a Hint of this Self-Byf-Absorption Eve at the Age of Twelve Occurred in Dindukkkkal Whenkataraman Was Studying There, Butse Who Were Arund Him at That time do not Realise Its Significance and Preciousess.
One Day, When His Relatives Had Gone Out, Venkataraman Was Lying on His Bed After Locking the House from Inter. When They Returned, Throw They Knocked On the Door and Called Him Loudly, The Door Was Not Opened. AFTER FINING ANOTER to ENTER The House, They AGain Tried to Wake Him from HIS Deep Sleep by Shaking, Rolling and Beating His Body Violently. But All in Vain, Venkataraman Woup Not Wake Up!
Inter Soome Time, Howver, He Woke up of His Own Accord. Going to Arfan, since Venkataraman lost all interest in studying, the teacher began to punish him. Even Nagasvami, his older brother, was angry when he noticed a strong change in him. Once, the teacher gave him a demand to write a lesson in English grammar three times, which he did not learn. The next day, it was Saturday, August 29, Sri Raman already wrote a task twice when he felt depressed from this useless work.
He threw a pencil and a notebook, sat down and closed his eyes in Nishtha's self -support. Nagasvami, sitting nearby, was saddened to see this. For him, who in a normal situation would remain indifferent to such a remark, these words seemed to mean a lot in this case. What should I do here and with these things? He immediately decided to leave the house. Suddenly, in his mind spontaneously, a memory of Arunalam broke out spontaneously.
When Venkataraman noticed that he was not connecting anything else with the environment in which he lived, an outbreak of Arfan suddenly arose, and he realized that he had to go to the place that was felt by his heart as a house. When he got up and hit the road, Nagasvami asked him to bring five rupees from his aunt to pay for his college training. Sri Raman turned to the old map of the Madras presidency, at which, unfortunately, a branch from Villupurama to Catpadi was not shown, on the middle path of which is Tiruvanamalay Arunsus; Therefore, he decided that the Tindivans were the nearest station to Tiruvannamalaya.
Of the five rupees that the aunt gave him, he took only three. He hastily wrote a note and left the house with the remaining two rupees. The note read:.
