People we met almost half a century ago when I started working in the newspaper Sovetskaya Estonia, where his wife Galina was a senior correspondent for the department of science, universities and schools. Leva, as everyone who knew this marital couple addressed him, although by that time he was already “applied” by the candidate of sciences and assistant professor, did not at all resemble the “scientist of the cracker” and “botany”.

There is nothing wrong with this, but in most similar cases, such a desire appears so clearly that it is in itself involuntarily causes alertness, or even direct rejection. This does not apply to the lion. It is no accident that among his favorite writers are the authors of the novels “12 chairs” and “Golden calf” Ilya Ilf and Evgeny Petrov.

By the way, he likes to color the links to them and in direct quotes and, in my opinion, successfully his lectures and scientific articles. What, however, causes the discontent of some buttons stabbed on all buttons, who consider such passes to be inappropriate in serious scientific research. Although, in fact, the famous satirists have a lot and, by this time, relevant statements on the topic of bureaucracy and other charms of the team economy and managerial practice of those years that are tenacious today and quoting them, Lev Gershevich only makes his reasoning more visual and convincing.

Another source that gives him the necessary charge of vigor and optimism is their common passion for mountain tourism with Galina, according to which his wife had the title of master of sports, and he himself was a candidate for the master. At the same time, both were instructors of mining tourism and had certificates on the management of complex mountain routes.

He published twelve books, according to which at least two generations of students studied, whose specialty was the use of mathematical methods in the managerial sector of the economy. But one of his main works, he calls the development of an automated system for managing the ACS complex projects in construction. This work was used not only in Estonia, but also in other republics of the USSR in the construction of large -scale industrial complexes - such as house -building plants and all related infrastructure facilities.

When he was awarded the title of “Honored Scientist of the Estonian SSR” for this work, he was issued as a bonus to the “fourth” for many in those years: the special system of the Fourth Directorate of the USSR Ministry of Health for the party nomenclature. By status, it was assumed that an elite privilege also applies to family members of the lucky. And he continues: - What we did years ago, using bulky and absolutely clumsy computers from a modern point of view, today's young people will seem naive and primitive.

But I dare to assure: these primitive developments have become a reliable foundation for modern management methods. People are used to counting the money that lay in their wallet. And those “on the card” were somehow perceived as not serious: it seems, you pay air ... But at the end of the month, or earlier, spending these virtual money to the right and left, the person suddenly faced the fact: and the money-Tyu-for!
