Heydman Boris Biography

But we, by no means outstanding mathematical abilities, did not know this background and did not immediately realize what blessing we fell to become students of a unique teacher. Yes, it took us for this time, but I did not like it at first. I don’t even remember why. Most likely, I was just worried that our strict, detailed Rose Semenovna left us and tried to rebel with impudent and stupid tricks, experiencing a new teacher for strength.

By the end of the week, Boris Petrovich got my behavior and he called his parents to the school. And then I finally woke up and really jerked. At school, I studied quite decently and no one ever called my parents to the school, so my mother was shocked by a new mathematician invitation to school and she did not even scold me especially, but she reacted very seriously and went to school for the next day.

I trudged with her, imagining that he would tell her now. What was my surprise when my mother left the office not a formidable cloud, but smiling. On the way home, she told that Boris Petrovich did not scold me at all, but on the contrary, praised my knowledge and abilities, sincerely perplexed why I was so inappropriately behaved and looked for her answer. I could not give a good answer to my mother, nor to myself, but the conclusion suggested by itself - I was an ordinary extravagant and simply a fool.

It was impossible to come up with a better way to “cure”, shake out of me and expand in the right direction. I appreciated the generosity, wisdom and delicacy of the new mathematician. From that day I became a diligent and attentive student and hissed furiously at anyone who at least the slightest way violated discipline in his lessons. And his jokes!

How did I not hear and did not value his jokes before?! Most often, they were turned to weak students, but in no way they touched their dignity. Instead of “Do not give up! I remember how one of the students was tormented by the board, not knowing where to start solving the problem. Boris Petrovich encouraged:-Come on, a paw and added to the classroom-from the word "bast shoe", something is already.

And then we will all bring the Marxist-Leninist justification together. By the way, Boris Petrovich paid quite severely for the last joke. The fact is that we were happy to tell his jokes at home. And one of the parents, apparently, reported where it should. He was called to some organs and made a strict reprimand. Whose parents they were, we could not find out.

But Boris Petrovich for this, we only respected even more. After a few months of work, Boris Petrovich organized an option in mathematics at the school and quite a few guys with pleasure visited him on Saturdays. His tasks were fascinated. It would seem that there was everything that we went through, but each had some kind of highlight, a hardener, without solving which, it was impossible to solve the problem.

I remember how I could sit over such a task, while experiencing a real buzz. In the morning, even before the lessons, she rushed into his office to hand over a notebook, after the lessons I looked impatiently and read it puzzled: “Dear Tanya! I was very interested in the course of your thoughts, but unfortunately ... ”And there were further explanations why my decision“ went to the wrong steppe ”.

His tasks were complex, completely inexplicable to traditional ones. BP taught us to think non -standard, taught us to find beautiful solutions, more and more falling in love with us into mathematics. Boris Petrovich lacked the strong, smart, loving mathematics of children in our simple school in the new building of Moscow. And closer to the end of the school year, he decided to gain his first mathematical class.

The director agreed. I am glad that at least a little helped him in this undertaking. After the lessons, we paced him in the area and stuck announcements about the recruitment and interviews in the entrances of houses in the "terrain and the epicylon of the surroundings." And the mathematical class gained! But I was no longer able to learn from it. In the same year I graduated from school.

It was ... I entered the Moscow Energy Institute, at the faculty of optical-electronic devices. I remember many applicants were most afraid of exams in mathematics. There were two of them-written in algebra and oral description in geometry. Needless to say, I passed them perfectly and even surprised their lightness. On Algebra, quickly solving all the tasks, she left the audience one of the first.

Rather, I was kicked out for rotating degrees, telling everyone the solutions. When she found her name in the lists of those who entered, on the same day she ran to school to thank Heidman.

He was very happy. Still! After all, there is the highest mathematics! Quantum physics! And he was only indignant: “How could one help others in the exam! They are your competitors! After one or two lectures, the tasks of integrals, the limits and other concepts unknown to us were immediately offered, which we have already made little from lectures. I ran to Heidman in desperation.

He put me at the first desk, took Mel and intelligibly set out the topic that seemed to me incomprehensible on the board. How simple! But BP made me solve several of my tasks on the board to make sure that it really came to me. After making sure, he led me to the school cafeteria to drink tea and we spoke for life. I asked what he was doing at school, why does not teach mathematics in a higher educational institution a more serious public.

I remember, then he told me about his mathematical works, publications, ideas, but he summed up his story with the words: “Anyway, Tanka, I realized that my place is at school ...” Studying at the institute, sometimes I came to school, but not for help, but as graduates come to school to their beloved teachers. I really liked to sit in his lessons. Especially in the mathematical class.

The guys there were amazing. They listened carefully, instantly issued decisions, for each question - the forest of hands. Finally, BP felt in his element. Not a lesson, but an enchanting flight! A coordinated orchestra with a brilliant conductor! I sat on the last desk, enjoyed the atmosphere of the lesson and worried that I had not happened to be one of its musicians.

And then he offered me to “feel the difference”, remaining still on a lesson in a regular class. The difference was grandiose! But in this class, the PSU was magnificent, poured jokes, which I barely had time to record everything in the same notebook, wiping away tears. Unfortunately, this notebook disappeared when my parents moved to a new apartment, and I was in a seismological expedition on Pamir.

And I also recall with what enthusiasm the BP supported my idea to become a school teacher in mathematics in the year. The idea arose spontaneously, at the parent meeting at the school of my eldest daughter Masha, who then studied in the 5th grade. A cool teacher complained to us, parents that children did not put a young mathematician in anything and asked us to organize duty at her lessons to help her cope with discipline.

I was horrified and here this idea dawned on me. I called the PSU and set out the situation to him, being sure that he would consider the idea of Bredova. But he, on the contrary, was very happy, assured that I could handle, offered methodological assistance and full support in everything. But they did not take me. The school principal intelligibly explained that there are not enough good knowledge of mathematics and diploma of a technical university.

The main thing for the teacher is the presence of pedagogical education. I was worried, but the outrage of the PSU knew no bounds. But nothing could be done. But in the year I proved how the short -sighted director was not right. And without pedagogical education, I still became a school teacher, though not in mathematics, but in English. I ventured to replace the sick teacher at the school of the youngest daughter, where there was no English for almost a month.

So for 28 years I have been replacing. In between, I received the second higher, linguistic. But the very thought of becoming a teacher and confidence that I can, I am grateful to my beloved Heidman. In the same year, I was at the BP visiting with the eldest daughter, who was already Masha herself asked me to take her with him, because she really wanted to see the person about whom I spoke so much and who meant so much in my life.

Then only his daughter was at home, also Masha. We drank tea, remembered, and constantly laughed, especially my Masha. She still remembers this meeting and calls her one of the most significant in her life, although she spent no more than two hours in his society. In recent years, I called BP once a year to congratulate him on the teacher’s Day, Happy New Year, Happy Birthday or to just hear his voice, make sure that everything is in order with him.
