Biography for the holiday
Poems History of the holiday All -Russian holiday Day of Family, Love and Fidelity are closely connected with the history and biography of the holy noble Peter and Fevronia. The story of their romantic love and an exemplary life began with a real miracle, which is reported in the ancient Russian “Tale of Peter and Fevronia of the Murom”: the Blessed Prince Peter, who entered the Murom throne, was ill with a leprosy.
His heavy ailment did not succumb to treatment, but once in a dream the prince was a vision that the Virgin Fevronia could heal him - the daughter of the tree from the village affectionately, in the Ryazan land.
The Virgin healed Prince Peter, for this he took her in his wives and saw how hard, economic, affectionate, kind and understanding. Quite quickly, Peter really fell in love with Fevronia and did not imagine how he lived without her earlier. Their family, where mutual feelings have always reigned, trust and consent has become a symbol of true devotion. According to legend, they died on the same day - June 25 in a new style - July 8.
Their bodies, stolen in different places, miraculously ended up in one coffin, which they considered it a miracle. Peter and Fevronia were canonized by the Orthodox Church at the church cathedral of the year. The tradition of the secular celebration of Peter and Fevronia Day was restored by the Muromlyans in the 10ths, when the City Day was united with the Day of Family Values and began to be celebrated on July 8.
In the year, urban and rural youth of the Murom district made a proposal to revive the historical tradition of celebrating Peter's Day and Fevronia not only in the Homeland of Saints, but also in all corners of Russia.
